Sacred Imagery
Seven authenticated apparitions of the Prophet, gilded for veneration. You may approach. You may not, however, touch the glass.
Feast Day · observed annually in late summer
The Beach Apparition
He stands before the Gulf, and the Gulf understands. The cap, dark
as a Sabbath sky, marks Him as one who has chosen, freely, to
appear among us. Note the squint: it is not the sun. He is, in
this moment, weighing the whole of the coastline.
Feast Day · the Hour of Direct Address
The Direct Address
He looks not at the camera. He looks at you, the viewer,
through a portal that happened to be a phone. The container yard
behind Him is incidental. He could have been anywhere. He chose
this.
Feast Day · the Vigil of the Yellow Nave
The Yellow Nave
The sunglasses are raised. This is not a casual gesture. In the
traditions of the Sanctuary, the lifting of the lens signifies a
provisional unveiling: the Prophet is briefly accessible, and the
observation is to be received with thanksgiving.
Feast Day · the Throne of the Ford
The Throne of the Ford
Every prophet has a throne. His is upholstered, cup-holdered, and
idling. The expression is contemplative; we are told He was, at
the time of capture, considering whether to drive through or go
inside.
Feast Day · the Pilgrim's Bridge
The Pilgrim's Bridge
He pauses at the span. The casino — lit, looming, lawful in
Louisiana — offered Him fortunes; He chose, instead, to
remain photogenic. The smile is small but historical.
High Feast · observed at every meal
The First Sacrament
Of all the Sacred Imagery, this is the central panel. The wrapper
is intact. The eyes are closed in receipt. The bread, the meat,
the foil — all are doing what they were created to do. To
view this image is, in itself, a partial communion.
Feast Day · the Early Apostolic Period
The Apostolic Era
From the formative years — the Prophet, already settled in
bearing, already loyal to the Cap. Behind Him, an alphabet on the
wall. Some say the letters were rearranging themselves. We do not
say that. We mention only that they are not, today, in the same
order they were that afternoon.
Photographic apparitions are added to this wing only with the Sanctuary's review and a notarized witness. Submit your candidate images at the Relic Office.
